I am honored that we can salute Vietnam War Marine PFC Richard Moxley, for whom the field is named after, while creating a fun filled event to not only dedicate, but officially open our newest recreational facility. This facility includes a multi-purpose rink, basketball court, tennis / pickleball court, and LED lighting.

The Boston Bruins Foundation has generously accepted our offer to be the title sponsor of the court and celebrant for the event. In addition, they have agreed to host a hockey clinic for our Watertown children. Bob Sweeney, former Boston Bruins Stanley Cup Finalist, and current Boston Bruins Foundation President will lead the clinic.

I am proud to add that Jerry York, the winningest coach in NCAA hockey history, five-time NCAA champion, National Hockey League, and U.S. Hockey Hall of famer, will be a special guest speaker. Coach York grew up in Watertown and was inducted into the Watertown High School Hall of Fame in 2012. The Watertown legend was born in Watertown, grew up in Watertown, and moved back to Watertown where he currently resides when he returned to Boston College in 1994.

On behalf of the City of Watertown, the Watertown Department of Recreation, and the Boston Bruins Foundation, we look forward to seeing you at our Court Dedication Ceremony at PFC Richard Moxley Field. Boston Bruins Foundation Mission

“The Boston Bruins Foundation is a non-profit that collaborates with charitable organizations that demonstrate a commitment to health and wellness, education and athletics. The Foundation strongly believes that advocating for children and families across these areas will create a strong support system that will ultimately lead to the betterment of our community. Since the foundation started in 2003, it has raised over $62 million through events and community initiatives. In celebration of 20 years of impact, the Boston Bruins Foundation will donate an additional one million dollars to a minimum of 20 charities that empower the foundation's mission statement throughout the 2023-2024 season. On top of celebrating the foundation's 20th anniversary this year, the Boston Bruins are also embarking on their 100th year in the National Hockey League. They are the first American hockey team to accomplish this milestone. Throughout the season, the Bruins will celebrate their momentous highlights over the last century with special themed game nights and community appearances.”
