Watertown Youth Hockey is a volunteer-based organization. Watertown is always looking for hockey-savvy parents, friends and family to help coach, manage teams, be a member of our Board of Directors and volunteer for any number of other jobs which help keep our organization going. Participating in any youth Sport organization is demanding, and hockey perhaps more so- but the rewards are endless. 


The following is a summary of the requirements associated with becoming volunteer with Watertown Youth Hockey.These requirements are for all volunteers including staff, Board of Directors, coaches, managers, and any other person involved with Watertown Youth Hockey players.
 

  1. Complete the WYH Volunteer application. If you are new to Watertown Youth Hockey, Download and Complete the volunteer application form and forward, it along with copies of any prior coaching certificates, to the   to be reviewed by the WYH Board of Directors.

 

  1. Register with USA Hockey here once your volunteer application has been approved.

If you are a manager or other off-ice volunteer, including administors, choose Ice Manager/Volunteer. There is no fee for this registration category.

If you are a coach, select that category. There is a registration fee for coaches that WYH will reimburse.

Copy your USA Hockey # (you’re going to need it)

Add your new USA Hockey # to your account on the Watertown Youth Hockey website

      Email your USA Hockey # to our registrar @ wyhmaregistrar@gmail.com

      This must be done prior to every season.

 

  1. Complete the online Background Screening process through USA Hockey here.

Scroll down to Register link.

You will need USA Hockey# and license  

 

  1. Complete the Online SafeSport training

Scroll down and look for Register for SafeSport Training link

“USA Hockey” should auto-fill the Organization field

Select Membership Type “Athlete, Coach, Manager, Volunteer

Paste your USA Hockey # in the Confirmation # field

Go through registration steps (select appropriate “Primary Position” when prompted

Once your account is activated, login and select “SafeSport Trained” link to start training course.

Complete the course.

 

All coaches must also complete the required USA Hockey coach certification courses, so must:

  1. Complete the appropriate Online Age-Specific Module before the start of the season.

Go to sign into/create a USA hockey account

Go to “Coaching E-learning” link to see list of online courses

      You can also see lists of Courses in Progress and Completed Courses

Select the appropriate Age-Specific Module course

Complete the course

WYH will reimburse you for the course fee.

 

  1. Complete the required Certification Clinic prior to Dec. 31st

Click here to locate a clinic

Click on “New System Login” link

Click on “Coach/Clinic Login” link

Login using the same account info as used for the Age-Specific Module above

Click on USA Hockey Courses Tab at the top of the page          

Find and register for the appropriate course offered nearby

WYH will reimburse you for the course fee
